Films themed on sexuality and gender diversity will be screened at the fourth edition of Reel Desires- Chennai International Queer Film Festival 2016, to start at the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan in Nungambakkam on Friday.
This time, 26 films (shorts, documentaries, and feature-length) from eight countries, namely, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America will be screened. Some 13 entries are from Indian film-makers including Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, and Hindi.
Key issues in the global struggle for rights of lesbian, gay, bi- and transgender (LGBT) people, will be highlighted. Films will also explore the lives of people in various cultures and castes.
‘FiveFilms4freedom,’ part of a social media campaign by the British Film Institute (BFI) and the British Council, will also be screened.Breaking Free, a documentary by Sridhar Rangayan will be screened on the evening of July 29. READ FULL
