tel_aviv_pride_parade_2_Tel Aviv: Israel is looking forward to welcome more than 100,000 overseas visitors for the annual Pride Festivals taking place in May-June, the period dedicated to the LGBT community.

The festivities will  begin May 15-17 in Eilat and include the legendary Tel Aviv Gay Pride event June 8-14.

The Eilat Pride Festival will feature a British pop legend Boy George and international DJs at the “Temptation” party on Dekel Beach on May 15, as well as a weekend of outdoor activities and parties throughout the city’s beaches and parks, reports

The Tel Aviv Pride Festival will include a week-long lineup of international dance, music and art performances, beach parties and events throughout the city, and concluding with a massive parade and beach party at Gordon-Frishman Beach on June 13.

Last year Tel Aviv Pride Festival had a record-breaking number of 100,000 visitors, a number officials expect to surpass this year.

Tourists came from far away Germany and  the US, and even from neighboring Saudi Arabia where people can be executed for same-sex relations and Lebanon where such relations are illegal, to take part in one or many of the Pride Festivals across Israel.

“We are thrilled to host the upcoming Pride festivals in Tel Aviv and Eilat, which are expected to draw tens of thousands of travelers to Israel,” Haim Gutin, Israel Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America, told “The festivals are a symbol of Israel’s openness for travelers of all tastes and interests.”

Tel Aviv has been consistently listed amongst the world’s “Best Gay Cities” by GayCities and ranked by Business Insider as the #2 “Best Gay Honeymoon Destination” in the world in 2013.
